Le Remusement
Triste Et Lent De La Queve D'un Vieux Chien
This splendidly
named Dublin group write abstract, lyrically oblique songs alternating
passages of acoustic calm and moments of noisy intensity. Their principal
influence is Will Oldham, who casts his scarecrow shadow on the gloomy
"Inept Before Conception". But they manage to shake him and hit their
own stride with " Sorrow swerves to skip her ", where obsessive love
is bizarrely documented, exfoliated skin is fetishised as a lover's
keepsake. Perversely promising.
THE WIRE
- SEPTEMBER '98
This is
the debut 6 track mini album from Dublin's Lo-Fi indie two piece. This
is truly a fine piece of work for a debut release featuring six Palace/Smog
influenced tunes. There are no signs of any typical landmark Dublin
sounds that are so familiar now.
These guys
are not going to come and beat you up nor have they plans to take over
the world and solve it's problems. This could quite easily stand up
to the likes of Will Oldham and Smog, so it's up to you to make sure
it does. Totally essential listening.
